As the country’s national news agency and the leading information service provider for Austria it is the core business of the Austria Press Agency (APA) to produce highest quality news. Recent developments in the fields of social media and crowd-sourcing movements forced the APA to start re-thinking its business strategy. The challenge was to tackle the implications of these developments for their business and develop possible strategies that strengthens APA´s future.
theLivingCore moderated a joint process (by implementing our leap framework) of profoundly questioning the core processes and innovation structures of the company. Based on the emerging insights out of this process, the members of the organization developed and realized an “InnoSpace”: an organizational and physical Enabling Space integrating the diversity of the APA-group by making use of synergies between the subsidiaries; and, by that, providing a space for bringing forth radically new perspectives through a powerful joint innovation process. Several high-potential innovations already emerged out of the InnoSpace. For example, innovation activities were aligned with the organizational strategy, systems that bypass hierarchical blocking of new ideas were introduced and the whole innovation process has been speeded up.
