In this strategy paper we show the close connection between design, innovation and anticipation: All three concepts are future-oriented; their nature is to shape the – often uncertain – future in a meaningful way. This is particularly true when design is supposed to find new solutions to highly complex problems, such as the major challenges facing our economic and social system. The authors, M. Peschl and T. Fundneider show what design and innovation of the future will look like.
