Masterclass A: Transformation in a Complex and Uncertain Digital World (and how we deal with it)

How will we innovate in the next 10 years? What does transformation and innovation mean in an exponential and digital platform economy? How will we deal with an uncertain, almost unpredictable and complex future? Find out in this masterclass.

What is it about?

This two-day masterclass will help you understand and gain hands-on experience of how to succeed in digital transformation in a world characterized by uncertainty, complexity, unpredictability and ambiguity – the VUCA world. You will learn the theory behind complexity, future readiness, digital transformation, and platform economies. You will also master specific methods and tools you can use to develop and design your transformation process towards a digital future. As a result of this interactive, atelier-style masterclass, you will create a blueprint for your own transformation strategy and identify a dream team within your organization that can co-create and co-design your digital future.

What do you learn?

  • Develop an understanding about what digital transformation means for your organization.
  • Understand why it is so difficult for us to deal with uncertainty and unpredictability (neuro-/cognitive science reasons, ”21st century illiteracies“) in a digital VUCA world.
  • Understand the shift from the classical economy to (digital) platform economies and their impact on your organization.
  • Experience concrete methods and tools for shaping your organization’s digital future.
  • Design a rough strategy and create a ”dream team“ from your organization that is capable of co-creating and co-shaping your digital future.

Target group

  • Industry-independent, incl. educational institutions
  • People Leaders
  • Senior Managers
  • Specialists: Change Managers, Innovation Experts, Transformation Catalysts

Masterclass B: Innovation as Shaping our Future in a Purposeful Manner

How can we bring about sustainable and purposeful innovations by (co-)shaping a thriving future in an impactful manner? Find out in this masterclass.

What is it about?

In many cases, classical strategies of innovation or design thinking are based on user insights and/or trends. Why are they not sufficient for future-oriented innovation? Although some of these approaches have proven to be successful, they have their limitations when it comes to more radical, disruptive, or future-oriented innovations, as they are mostly based on present or past knowledge and experiences that are extrapolated into the future.
In this two-day masterclass we are going to take a closer look at the challenges and leading-edge developments in the field of innovation. In this context, future potentials (as opposed to trends) as well as Emergent Innovation play an essential role. This approach follows the strategy of ”learning from the future as it emerges“: We will learn how to identify (future) potentials and how to make sense and use of them in order to shape a meaningful future both for your users and your organization. This masterclass introduces both theoretical foundations and concrete methods and tools how to develop desired futures through emergent prototyping design.

What will you learning?

  • Understand the limitations of classical approaches to innovation and design thinking.
  • Understand the difference between trends and (future) potentials in innovation processes.
  • Experience what innovation as ”learning from the future as it emerges“ means and apply it in a concrete prototyping project.
  • Learn how to identify and make sense of (future) potentials.
  • Learn how future-oriented Emergent Innovation may shape our future (users, needs, markets, organizations) in a purposeful manner.
  • Understand why it is important to innovate ”from-the-inside-out“ and why to start with the ”why“.

Target audience
